Immersion Liquid Cooling Technology

Immersion liquid cooling is an industry‑first thermal management technology pioneered by Kortrong. The technology fully immerses battery cells in a dielectric coolant. The coolant fully envelops each cell, achieving 360° surface contact. Any flammable gases generated during battery operation are completely evacuated, eliminating combustion risk and ensuring absolute system safety. This significantly improves cell temperature uniformity with a temperature difference of less than 2°C.


Kortrong's immersion‑cooled BESS offers superior safety, high energy density, excellent thermal management, low noise, and robust environmental adaptability. It has been commercialized in the world's first demonstration project to apply immersion thermal management to electrochemical energy storage systems.


Additionally, this immersion‑cooled product has been deployed in another China Southern Power Grid (CSG) immersion‑cooled BESS project. This project is both China's first multi‑technology‑route energy storage site and the first in southern China to adopt a smart digital operation and maintenance (O&M) platform for energy storage.

The system adopts a cloud‑edge‑device three‑layer architecture, covering an intelligent analytics platform, energy storage cloud monitoring platform, station‑level monitoring system, and local monitoring system. Grid‑Forming Technology

Grid‑forming technology, based on power electronic converters, provides voltage‑source characteristics comparable to or even better than synchronous generators. It is one of the core technologies for building new‑type power systems. Leveraging its voltage‑source characteristics, a grid‑forming converter can instantly provide active and reactive power support during grid disturbances, maintain stable voltage magnitude and phase angle, and suppress frequency deviations through inertia response within hundreds of milliseconds. This technology not only achieves power and energy balance but also effectively increases system inertia, short‑circuit capacity, and the short‑circuit ratio of renewable power plants, improves grid impedance characteristics, and fundamentally mitigates transient voltage dips and wide‑band oscillations caused by high‑penetration renewable integration.


2.5.1 Fast Power Control

The system uses high‑speed communication protocols to communicate with wind, solar, and storage converters. It can rapidly adjust converter active and reactive power output based on grid frequency, voltage deviations, or upper‑level stability control commands, with a response time of less than 100 milliseconds.


2.5.2 Grid‑Connected / Islanded Transfer Control

When switching from grid‑connected to islanded mode, the point of common coupling (PCC) static transfer switch opens, and the grid‑forming converter stabilizes voltage and frequency during the transition, ensuring continuous power supply to loads. When switching from islanded to grid‑connected mode, the system autonomously adjusts to grid voltage, frequency, and phase. Once the PCC meets synchronization conditions, it closes rapidly, and the grid‑forming converter automatically completes the mode transition.


2.5.3 Black‑Start Control

Leveraging the converter's autonomous voltage‑building capability, the system can independently establish stable voltage and frequency references even when the external grid is completely de‑energized. It provides startup power for wind, solar, storage, and other generation units, progressively restoring power supply to the local grid. The system is capable of independently supporting black‑start and islanded operation of local grids.





Microgrid Control Technology

The system adopts a flexible control mode based on regulation‑first, tripping‑last coordination. When the power system experiences a major disturbance, the security and stability control system (SSCS) finely coordinates various grid resources and executes emergency control actions such as generator tripping and load shedding in an orderly manner according to predefined strategies, ensuring secure and stable operation of power systems with high penetration of renewables.


Through quantitative analysis of output and complementary characteristics of source, grid, load, and storage resources, combined with load forecasting and wind/solar power prediction data, the system formulates generation plans. Wind‑solar‑storage plants coordinate multi‑energy complementary control based on these generation plans, maximizing renewable energy utilization and ensuring operational stability of energy assets. On this basis, the system aggregates diverse load characteristics and mobilizes flexible loads to actively participate in coordinated control, shifting from the traditional generation follows load paradigm toward source-load interaction. It fully taps into and integrates regulation resources across the entire grid, establishing a Source‑Grid‑Load‑Storage (SGLS) integrated control architecture.






Smart Manufacturing Technology

Kortrong's founding team comes from the world's No. 1 company in lithium‑battery formation and grading equipment (by market share), giving Kortrong deep expertise in smart equipment manufacturing.
