  • ValueThe system employs a smart microgrid controller to coordinate PV, storage, and diesel generation, shifting diesel gensets from hot standby to cold standby — significantly reducing fuel consumption and extending genset life. Virtual synchronous condenser technology is also deployed to enhance power quality and protect downstream equipment. With average annual PV peak sunshine hours of approximately 1,700 hours per year, the PV + storage system is expected to deliver approximately 10 hours of daily green power upon completion — supplying around 6.5 hours of stable power per day and generating approximately 42,000,000 kWh annually. Once operational, green power will be delivered at a substantially lower cost than diesel generation, with estimated electricity cost savings exceeding 60% at current fuel prices. The system also provides backup power capability, further enhancing site supply reliability. This project serves as a significant demonstration for reducing fuel dependency, ensuring regional supply stability, and supporting sustainable industrial development in DRC.
